What a fantastic day full of laughter and Christmas cheer! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us – you truly filled the club with festive spirit. From a merry round of golf and joyful Christmas carols, to cozy Christmas jumpers, warming glühwein, and delicious goulash soup lovingly served by our NAAFI staff, it was a day to remember.

For the first time, we hosted a Halloween tournament – and what a fantastic day it was! Thank you to everyone for the great participation, amazing costumes, and fantastic atmosphere on the course. Excitement was in the air, and the mystery was successfully solved – there was plenty of laughter, celebration, and, of course, excellent golf played. Dear Golfers,
As the season approaches and more of you begin to migrate your golfing days onto the Forest Pines course, I want to take this opportunity to explain why the course may occasionally be closed due to frost and frozen conditions.
Most of us now understand that if there is frost on the leaf and temperatures are in the negative, the Forest Pines course will be closed. However, one area that some find harder to accept is when the sub-surface is frozen. I have included links to studies that explain in more detail why these decisions have been made historically and why they will continue to be made in the future:

The majority of golfers respect and accept the decisions regarding course playability, and I sincerely appreciate the support shown to me and my team. That being said, unfortunately, a small minority seem to believe they know more than the greenkeeping team and frequently voice their complaints in the office. While opinions are always welcome, I kindly ask that they be directed through the appropriate channels. I have previously provided my email address, but here it is again for your reference: . I know the statement above does not reflect the views of the majority. The golfers at the British Army Golf Club Sennelager are truly unique in their love for this course and the care they show for it. As we all start heading towards Forest Pines, I hope you will notice some of the changes we have made in and around the course. We have worked on creating new pathways in certain areas and, while our ability to work on the turf has been limited by the weather, the forecast suggests a milder few weeks ahead. This should allow us to focus on improving the greens, tees, and fairways. We will also revisit the rough areas on Forest Pines. Your feedback on the rough has been noted, and changes will be made to the layout accordingly.
In the creation of our pathways, we have managed to implement an eco-friendly approach by using recycled schotter. In fact, some of the schotter we have been using on the course has come from old, unused stones that were previously lying in the forest—making this a double win as we’ve both cleaned the forest and repurposed the stones. Additionally, the nature fencing we have created along the 5th to 6th and the 12th pathway through the woods has been built using wild cherry. The reason behind this choice is that wild cherry has a fast regrowth rate and a minimal negative impact on the forest ecosystem.
Beyond this, we have also taken steps to support local wildlife by creating beds for hedgehogs and establishing migration pathways for frogs and other small creatures.
Please continue to take care of your course by repairing your pitch marks, raking bunkers, and replacing divots.
Please use the webcam viewing the course open and closed information board before traveling to the course to avoid any disappointment

Showdown at Lippstadt Golf Club. The last match day in 2024 was held at GC Lippstadt. Course
condition was perfect, the weather was ideal and the hospitality was outstanding - there was a
barrel of beer waiting for thirsty players after 9 holes and a delicious BBQ for dinner. Many thanks
to the hosts from Lippstadt!
On a sporting note: the starting position was clear - our team was leading the group by 3 points. So
we ‘only’ had to finish third in the daily ranking and we could celebrate our promotion. However, the
GC Lippstadt is rightly called ‘the blue monster’ and can be quite challenging with its many water
hazards. Our two best handicappers in the team alone sank a total of 12 balls into the blue water.
In the end, the team from Paderborner Land won the day ahead of the home team. We came third
ahead of GC Bad Driburg. As the latter was our closest rival, we were able to extend our lead in the
group by one point and won the group with a total of 20 points ahead of GC Bad Driburg with 16
points.
Many thanks to all players and supporters. Throughout the year, Lucas, Felix and Andreas were
involved with 5 out of 5 games, Aidan and Greg with 4 games each, Jörg played three times and
Chris, Heijo, Ryan and Mukti were involved with one game each. A little surprise is waiting for you!

The fourth match day was played at Golfclub Teutoburger Wald Halle. For the first time this year, the team consisted purely of AK30 players - meaning that all the players were under 50 and we didn't need to call on experienced veterans from the AK50 team.
The condition of the course was exceptionally good, but the weather was rather moody with gusty winds. All players struggled with these conditions and it was not easy to achieve a good score on such a demanding course.
Only 2 of the 6 players in our team managed to break the 100 stroke mark. Aidan rehabilitated himself with a gross 91 after the Bad Driburg disaster and team captain Andreas finished with an 80.
In the end, we finished with 115 strokes over CR, just behind the hosts with 112 and were able to collect 4 points.
We now lead the league with 17 points ahead of GC Bad Driburg with 14 points.
As there is only one match left, promotion will be decided between these two clubs. If we get at least 3 points, i.e. finish at least third, we can celebrate promotion. It's entirely in our hands, or rather our clubs.
The last match day will be played on September 7th at GC Lippstadt - a course also known as the "Blue Monster" - as there are water hazards on almost every hole.
The Josefs brewery from Bad Lippspringe took over the sponsorship for our Josefs Stableford Open on May 19th.
Founded in 2000, the beverage manufacturing company was the first to offer jobs for people with disabilities.The Josefs Stableford Open on May 19th started with sunshine and a joyful atmosphere.
After the first flights took off, there were a few rain showers again and again.
At our waterhole there were bratwursts and delicious Josefs drinks. In addition to the Josefs Pils, Weizen, the non-alcoholic Radler was also very well received. Also non-alcoholic drinks, such as the fair lemon soda, fair orange soda as well as the fair cola.
After our great catering crew had half of the flights with them on the 12th hole, the weather changed instantly. Floods of rainwater, hail and thunderstorms brought the tournament to a standstill for almost an hour and a half. The golfers dried, warmed up and refreshed themselves in the clubhouse, where the NAAFI had provided a delicious buffet.
There was great joy after the tournament management gave the okay that the game could be resumed. At around 7 p.m. all golfers had finished their game and, in addition to other delicious Josefs drinks, there was an award ceremony. In addition to voucher packages from Josefs-Brewery for massages, there were Vitality Lounge membership vouchers and lots of good beer.
An all-round successful tournament, whose atmosphere and mood was not affected by the thunderstorms and rain showers.

Home games are the highlight of a league season. Does home advantage count, or can the
visitors beat the home players on their pitch?
A home game starts a few days earlier. Our head greenkeeper Aidan has been working hard
with his team to get our course in excellent condition. Aidan and his team were supported by
many volunteers, including Lucas, Dave, Tam and Norman. Many thanks to all of them!
Herbert sent the players out onto the course in perfect conditions. During the round, Dominik
acted as marshal to ensure that nobody got lost.
After the round, the players were welcomed by Pam & Dave with cool drinks and delicious
salad and bratwurst. Thank you very much for your support!
Our team of Andreas, Aidan, Lucas, Jörg, Chris and Felix were able to capitalise on their
home advantage. Even though not everyone was happy with their result, we needed a total of
34 strokes less than the second-placed team.
Our team now leads with 10 points ahead of Bad Driburg and Paderborner Land with 7 points
each and ahead of Lippstadt and Teutoburger Wald with 3 points each.
